Corps |
Computer Corps (C-Corps)
is an AmeriCorps program in which our young people complete
technology-based service projects in Austin neighborhoods with
limited resources to help bridge the “Digital Divide”
for both children and adults.
C-Corps members begin their service by refurbishing donated
computers donating the upgraded and repaired computers to families
or community centers. Next, |

| American YouthWorks
trains our C-Corps members in using computer software and then
in turn, members travel across the city (in partnership with
the Austin Housing Authority and Austin Independent School District)
to teach citizens. |
Technology education programs currently include:
•
the elderly
• Section 8 housing recipients
• resume assistance for 25-40 year olds
Services provided at after school programs for low-income
children include:
• mentoring in two AISD elementary schools
• research using the internet
• skills to succeed in school
• homework assistance
• 15 refurbished computers were donated
to Heart House after school program
• 75th Anniversary Presentation & 2005-2006 Yearbook for
Becker Elementary School
