CLASSIFICATION:
Reports to the Principal
Regular, Full Time, Non-Exempt

POSITION PURPOSE:
First point of contact for public; Assist students and staff as needed. Answer initial questions about the agency and refer specific questions to the appropriate personnel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
Instructional Strategies:
1. Answer all incoming calling and Route to appropriate personnel;
2. Check voicemails and return calls;
3. Welcome an assist guests
4. Update waiting list and ensure its accuracy;
5. Ensure all enrollment forms are completed in their entirety;
6. Relate that non-completion of forms could result in their application going null;
7. Enforce the SLA Dress Code policy;
8. Assist with Breakfast and Lunch Services;
9. File and collect paperwork as requested;
10. Print transcripts;
11. Make and Print, Student and Staff ID cards;
12. Ensure front office station is clean and all confidential documents are filed;
13. Assist with inventory and archiving of current and former student data and records;
14. Drive 15-passenger van as requested;
15. Other duties as assigned;

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Required
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent;
KNOWLEDGE: Basic computer skills and office equipment, i.e. Microsoft Office applications, Copy and Postage Machine;
EXPERIENCE: Previous related experience in school or social agency setting;
SKILLS: Problem-solving; Time management, Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse student/parent population;
BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES: ; Helping demeanor; Self-reliant; Works effectively in a fast-paced environment; Multi-tasks;
Preferred
SKILLS: Bilingual in English and Spanish;

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS:
REGULAR:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm; one hour un-paid lunch break

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
REPETITIVE MOTIONS:
Walking; talking; frequent and regular movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers;
PHYSICAL STRENGTH:
Frequently lifts and carries up to 35 pounds;
TALKING:
Must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately to young children; constant talking in front of groups;
AVERAGE HEARING:
Hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information;
AVERAGE VISION:
Average vision to read papers, books and to operate audio-visual programs, office equipment and tools;

WORKING CONDITIONS:
OCCASIONAL:
May be required to work to work in hot, wet, cold or other significantly unpleasant conditions;

FY12-07-Early_Childhood_Care_Provider:

CLASSIFICATION:
Temporary, Part-Time, Non-Exempt

POSITION PURPOSE: 
Create and maintain a safe and stimulating environment for young children (ages 0-5). Work in a family-centered program and center duties on the needs of the families

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

1. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social and emotional development of students with an emphasis on language development and emergent literacy skills;
2. Interact with the children in a way which conveys respect and nurturing;
3. Attend to the personal hygiene of each child in your care, including changing diapers or soiled clothing and washing hands;
4. Assist in the cleaning and straightening of the childcare rooms at the end of the day, as well as putting away any outside equipment;
5. Work cooperatively and effectively as a team member by communicating and contributing information on a continuous basis;
6. Maintain open, friendly, and cooperative relationships with each child’s family and encourage their involvement in the program;
7. Continue a minimum of 15 hours annually of professional development through attending workshops, conferences and other staff development;
8. Know and comply with the minimum standards for child care centers;
9. Supervise children at all times, adjusting appropriately for different ages and abilities of children;
10. Ensure continuity of care for children by sharing with incoming caregivers information about each child’s activities during the previous shift and any verbal or written instructions given by the parent;
11. The law requires any person who believes that a child, or person 65 years or older, or an adult with disabilities is being abused, neglected, or exploited to report the circumstances to DFPS;
12. Cover breaks for other staff members;
13. Perform other duties as assigned;

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Required
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent;
KNOWLEDGE: Basic computer skills i.e. Microsoft Office applications, CPR
EXPERIENCE: Previous related experience in school or social agency setting; 6 months Experience in a licensed child care facility; Experience teaching in early childhood education;
SKILLS: Problem-solving; Time management, Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse student/parent population
BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES: Friendly; Helping demeanor; Self-reliant; Works effectively in a fast-paced environment; Multi-tasks..
Preferred
EDUCATION: Associates degree or higher in Education or related field;
SKILLS: Bilingual in English and Spanish;
